Good book with a lot of detail. Only criticism I would have is that it has a lot of facts in it but I don't feel that I have got a comprehensive picture of what she was really like as a person on a day to day basis. Scott implies that se was alot less intelligent off stage than on it and lacked a sense fo humour, although gives little evidence to support either hypothesis. The last 12 years of her life merit one not particularly long chapter and you get the impression that Scott lost interest in her when she was no longer able to deliver vocally. Vocal triumphs and decline are assiduously charted though.
